The Five Keys to Perfect Health...Key Number Trhee: Digestive Health and Poor Digestion
Digestion is one the most important functions that your body performs and poor digestive health can have far reaching effects throughout your body.
What you may perceive as a minor problem with digestion can actually cause serious health problems down the road. The health of your digestive system is of vital importance to your immune system, brain function and just about every other critically important function that your body performs. Unfortunately, digestive problems are some of the most overlooked and mismanaged problems in healthcare today.
A digestive problem pertains to any of the organs involved in the process of digestion. All of these organs together are called the gastrointestinal tract. These organs include the esophagus, the stomach, the small intestines, the large intestines and the colon. All of these organs work in concert with one another to ensure that all the foods you eat are properly absorbed and then eliminated. If any of these organs are not doing their job, the results are devastating.
For example, if the stomach does not produce enough acid, this causes the acidity level in the rest of the digestion pathway to be thrown off. This can lead to a whole host of problems including susceptibility to infections, anemia, heartburn, thyroid problems, hormone imbalances, etc.
Many things can cause digestive problems, and it is important to find out what they are before they destroy your health. Some of the most prevalent causes of gastrointestinal problems are food sensitivities, parasites, and poor brain function which can cause sluggish or slow moving digestion. Some of the first symptoms of digestive problems are gas and bloating. Another is brain fog. If you have any of these symptoms, it's not something that should just be written off. These symptoms may seem harmless, but they are a sign that something is inflaming your gut and if the gut is inflamed, then you are well on your way to other health problems.
A few simple tests can identify the cause of your digestive problems and with a little bit of work, you can enjoy all of the wonderful benefits of having perfect digestion!
