Becoming A Patient
How does one become a patient of Integrated Health Systems?
Our comprehensive intake exam will give us a very clear picture of your health and allow us to develop the most successful treatment plan for you to get the results you want and need.
When considering working with Integrated Health, it's important to understand that we do not work with everyone.
Not everyone who calls our office becomes our patients—you have to be qualified by one of our doctors to be seen in our office… meaning you must have the criteria necessary for care.
The steps involved in becoming a patient are:
Step 1. Call to Qualify for Care
Step 2. Comprehensive Intake Exam
Step 3. Individualized Treatment Plan
Step 1. Call to Qualify for Care
Call our office today at 303-781-5617. Our staff will ask you questions to see if you qualify for care in our practice. Due to the unique and comprehensive nature in the way our team of doctors work together, not everone who contacts our office is a good candidate. If it's determined that you are a good candidate for our care, you'll proceed to our comprehensive intake exam.
Step 2. Comprehensive Intake Exam
Our Comprehensive Intake Exam is one aspect of what sets us apart from our competition (see what makes us different for more information). The exam is to further our knowledge of your brain-body connection to see if in fact we can help you.
We start with a complete, whole-body exam to discover how your body's inner workings can be affecting your health and why.
After an in depth interview, where we discuss and review your body systems, we perform a comprehensive Chiropractic Neurology exam including orthopedic, spinal, physical, and of course neurological evaluations. It is important to have knowledge of all your body systems and how they are working with each other. Only then can we begin to get a complete picture of your overall health and brain-body connection.
Have you been told by your doctor that nothing seems to be wrong?
This is a common complaint we get... "If nothing is wrong then why am I in pain?" or "They couldn't find anything wrong but I still have this symptom." We understand the doctors may not have found pathology related to your nervous system.
There is a chance you could have a functional abnormality in your nervous system. This is essentially an operating system gone wrong. It typically does not show up on a conventional neurology examination, MRI, CT, etc. due to its subtlety. We employ certain evaluation techniques, which allow us to "see" the problem more clearly as it exists…functionally.
Optokinetic testing is part of our neurological testing. It is used for looking at eye function as it relates to learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, headaches, brain injury, and more.
Some of the evaluation techniques we use are:
- Computerized Blind Spot Evaluation
- Vestibulo-Ocular Testing
- Optokinetic Nystagmus Testing
- Pursuit and Saccade Testing of the eyes
- Computerized Timing and Planning exam
- Vestibular and Cerebellum Assessments
- Coordination Testing
- Mental Status Evaluations
- Motor Testing to check for muscular imbalances
- Sensory Perception Tests including cranial nerves and peripheral nerves, motor reflexes, primitive reflexes and balance
In addition, traditional physical exam practices are used. You will also receive a heart and lung screening, blood pressure, and visual exam. As a bonus, we do oxygen level evaluation, heart rate evaluation, and stress testing to evaluate your autonomic nervous system, which is how your body responds to stress. The exam also takes into consideration past medical testing and diagnosis also. It is important to see what has been done and compare it to where you are today.
As you can see, the Comprehensive Intake Exam is just that—comprehensive! Expect this appointment to take 1-2 hours. Depending on your symptoms, we may recommend additional testing, for further investigation into your condition, after your examination is complete.
Step 3. Individualized Treatment Plan
After your Comprehensive Intake Exam, we'll gather the information you've given us with your test results to create a personalized treatment plan. This plan may include additional lab work or follow-up testing. We'll provide a report of our findings to lay out care to include, visits, therapy, and nutritonal support.
We truly are a category of one in that we are one of the very rare places in the world that actually looks at all aspects of health. Our treatment is not "hocus pocus" we provide evidenced based results you can measure.
After seeing several chiropractors, I finally found one who cared about my constant soreness. Dr. Shane Steadman. fixed all my aches and pains and I've stayed in alignment for over a year now. They took the time to listen to my concerns and truly wanted to help me. They are friendly, warm and caring people. I am so thankful, I found them.
